In 2012, Womelsdorf will be celebrating their 250th Anniversary.

As we prepare to celebrate Womelsdorf's 250th Anniversary we have to remember what a great achievement this is for our community. From our Founder to all the wonderful men and women who followed to make Womelsdorf what it is today. Many of these folks are life-long residents and many are transplants from other areas, drawn here because of Womelsdorf's small town charm and friendly people.

It is the dedication of these people that makes us what we are today.

People that work hard all day and then spend countless hours for the benefit of this great community. People who give their time to the Library, Boy/Girl Scouts and spend their time to beautify this community by planting flowers at the town park. And to all the great service groups that bring us Santa on the Fire Truck, Senior Citizen's Banquet, and Fighting Fires. Let's not forgot the people that proudly line the front of their homes with flags on holidays, and so many other things. With all the growth and changes we have seen over the last 250 years, Womelsdorf continues to be a traditional community where church on Sunday and believing in God is still important to many of us.

The 250th Anniversary Committee has worked very hard over the last two years to prepare for this celebration. The celebration will begin December 31, 2011 and commence December 31, 2012. Thru the year, Womelsdorf will be hosting members of the Womelsdorf Family from around the United States and also special visitors from Womelsdorf, Germany.

Fundraising has been ongoing for the last 2 years - Car Show, Quarter Jams, 200 lighted Christmas boxes, etc. Selling commemorative items for the 250th Anniversary - Blankets, baskets, banners, etc.

One of the events that people in the community have request for the year 2012, is Fireworks and the committee currently is planning two nights of fireworks.

Volunteers to chair projects, help on the committees and manpower is very much needed to make this celebration a success. Please call to volunteer your time….
